About 5 Mountains

We don’t just teach it—we grow it. At our 17,000 sf indoor facility on the One Silk campus in Jim Thorpe, PA, we cultivate clean, vibrant herbs and vegetables every week.

Vision & Overview

5 Mountains advances hydroponics across homes, schools, and commercial sites—making fresh, local produce possible year-round while conserving resources and space. Through systems, education, and partnerships, we enable real people and communities to grow food anywhere—from a single “Pineapple Platform” to full-scale production.

We don’t just teach it—we grow it. At our 17,000 sf indoor facility on the One Silk campus in Jim Thorpe, PA, we cultivate clean, vibrant herbs and vegetables every week. This operating farm anchors our training, fuels product R&D, supplies local kitchens and families, and—most importantly—creates jobs and paid learning pathways for the community. What we install for partners is proven daily in our own rooms: consistent quality, efficient labor, and reliable supply.

Why this matters: the farm is our living lab and local engine—showing what a resilient, neighborhood-scale food system looks like when technology, workforce development, and culinary standards work together.

Our Home at One Silk

The historic One Silk campus is where ideas become harvests. The site houses:

  • Demonstration & Training: Hands-on sessions for homeowners, students, and pro teams—seed to harvest, nutrient management, IPM, sanitation, and data logging.
  • R&D & Prototyping: Iterating NFT rails, vertical towers, Dutch buckets, and controlled-environment modules to dial in yield, flavor, and labor efficiency.
  • Production & Proof (17,000 sf): A working farm that supplies produce, stabilizes training cohorts with paid hours, and supports local jobs. Our companion produce brand, Celestial-Now, showcases what the systems deliver: clean, traceable herbs and vegetables grown with care.

How Our Model Works

  1. Design – Map goals (menu targets, curriculum, or revenue), then size systems, utilities, layouts, and SOPs.
  2. Build – Fabricate/source, deliver, and commission; integrate timers, pumps, sensors, and lighting.
  3. Train – On-site/virtual training for daily routines, food safety, and troubleshooting.
  4. Grow – Launch crop plans with nutrient schedules and QA checklists.
  5. Partner – For larger sites, co-develop markets, branding, and logistics—often with revenue-share or performance-based service tiers.
  6. Replicate – Turn successful sites into regional hubs that incubate jobs and multiply local supply.

Revenue streams: system sales, service & maintenance, training programs, and produce sales (direct or wholesale). We also help mission-driven projects navigate grants and workforce programs.

Our Pillars

Health

  • Food can be medicine; phytonutrients support healthy metabolism and reduce inflammation.
  • Eat the rainbow—color diversity signals protective compounds and better overall benefits.

Education

  • Hands-on hydroponics builds horticulture skills and increases kids’ willingness to eat vegetables.
  • Programs support home, rooftop, school, and community gardens with practical, affordable methods.

Access

  • Hydroponics scales from small homes to neighborhoods and urban farms, overcoming land and transport barriers.
  • Ideal for underserved areas: indoors, vertical, year-round—creating jobs and dependable local produce.

Sustainability

  • Grow more with less: up to ~90% less water than soil growing and far less land.
  • Indoor, climate-managed farms reduce long-haul transport and related emissions.

What We Offer

Systems

  • Commercial: Scalable NFT, Dutch bucket, vertical walls, and container/modular rooms for restaurants and wholesale.
  • Residential: Compact towers and wall systems with automated timers and LED options.
  • Educational: Classroom packages and training modules for K-12 and community programs.
